How does he do it!? I know how to try and build out a structured frame of book as I have been giving that a go with writing my book. I think I am too much of a gardener though. There are pieces that I struggle to find and know ahead of writing the book. But I want my books to have more depth to them which is why I have been trying to architect as much as I can. Much like how Brandon Sanderson does. The man is a wizard when it comes to structuring a story.
Its amazing to me how you can read a book of his, The Well of Ascension for example and feel like nothing is happening for 90% of the yet it is still enough to keep you interested and reading THEN all of sudden he hits you. With his Sanderson Avalanche that you SHOULD have seen coming and yet totally didn't. That snowball started at page 1 and you didn't even notice the little tidbits that were being dropped all over the place along your journey. Because it felt like nothing was happening. But it felt like everything was happening. It's absolutely aggravatingly satisfying to not have one dimensional characters or be thrown several different directions just because. The pace is well, slow and steady then BOOM 120 mph down a chaos information highway.
I highly recommend reading The Mistborn series if you have not yet. As an avid Fantasy reader, I can't believe it took me so long to read them myself. Book three, I am thoroughly excited about but it will have to wait. We have been reading the WOT series and are currently in the beginning chapters of Book 7. I hear that book has controversial opinions but we shall see. I plan on writing a review about WOT, the books, because so far anything else hasn't lived up to the OG content.
So the review for Book 3 will have to wait. In the meantime, YOU should go get yourself the books. Both 1 and 2 and 3. You might even get through it before me. Probably will with how much time I have available to read. Plus these have been "couples" books. My husband and I read them together. Well to each other out loud. So it takes a minute to get through them.
If you missed my review of Book 1 of Mistborn, go give it a read. AND then go read the books!
If you haven't subscribed yet, please do so. That way you never miss out on a book review.
